Post and core and crown

Here is an example of a tooth that had broken off at the gumline.  While people often think that every broken tooth must be pulled, in this case, we were able to do a root canal, followed by a cast post and core, and then cement a crown over the broken tooth.  This photo of the crown was taken seconds after it was cemented.  Root canals, posts, and crowns have been done for a very long time with a very good success rate, so saving teeth is always our first goal whenever possible.  We expect this tooth to have years and years of continued service.
